Why hair is electrified - and how to avoid it

Every week, Life around talks about various beauty products, whether decorative cosmetics or skin and hair care products that deserve attention and make life easier. In the new issue - protective sprays, anti-static oils, ion comb, moisturizing masks and other products that will negate the main problem of the autumn-winter period.

Mostly, the hair is electrified due to friction of the surfaces - for example, at the moment when we put on a sweater with a narrow collar or a tight turtleneck. But in the cold season, one has to deal with this problem more often than, for example, in the summer. There are several reasons for this: firstly, the dryness of the hair itself, and secondly, dry air in the room (thanks to the central heating). Among other reasons are sharp changes in temperature indoors and outdoors and synthetic fabrics, which due to their composition contribute to the formation of static electricity at any time of the year.

Dehydrated hair is much more prone to electrification, as it is dry, its surface is uneven and friction intensifies. The same thing happens with damaged hair. At the same time, the length does not affect the appearance of static: it can be electrified both as a square and a braid to the waist, but on long hair it is more noticeable and brings more discomfort.
The main methods of control are moisturizing, with both hair and indoor air. For hair, you should choose a moisturizing shampoo, conditioner and mask, spray or oil, as well as a cream that can be reapplied throughout the day. It is also worth trying the wardrobe and trying to switch to natural fabrics, thus avoiding excessive static electricity. And do not forget about the regular haircut. If the hair is split and dry at the ends, it is better to sacrifice the length: no styling will look good on dull and lifeless hair.
